We compared how much more people vote for different parties in a specific municipality compared with the national level. The green bars are municipalities where people vote more for the party than the national average, the red bars are municipalities where people vote less for the party than the national average. It is not as simple as city versus countryside; rather, it is northern and central Sweden where the party is strong.

In the metropolitan regions the party is somewhat stronger in certain municipalities, such as Sundbyberg, Malmö and Järfälla, but far weaker in wealthier commuter municipalities such as Danderyd, Täby or Kungsbacka

What is interesting, though, is how much lower than the national average the vote for the Social Democrats is in western Sweden.
