Writing in cells
You can type in Excel cells. What you type can be either values (text, numbers, dates and times) or formulas. The difference between them is that formulas always begin with an equals sign (=). A formula is a calculation.
When you write a formula you can refer to other cells (for example A1, A2, B1) and use functions (for example SUM(), COUNT(), MAX()). When you type values, Excel treats everything as ordinary text or ordinary numbers.
Some examples of values are:
3
Name
0023012657
Some examples of formulas are:
=1+2
=A1+A2
=SUM(A1:A2)
